- My Younger Brother is a Hero Chapter 96
96. After running for a while, Seon-woo stopped at the spot. He had already left the hospital and was standing in the middle of an unknown park. He just followed Hyeon-woo because his Hyung was holding the hand of a woman he didn’t know and wanted to see what was going on. He heard something he didn’t want to hear. ‘I like Han Do-jin!’ His Hyung said that. He knew that the ‘like’ that Hyung said was not the ‘like’ in the sense of liking things. ‘I know.’ Hyung promised to always be by his side, but he knew that promise would not last forever. There were more people in the world than just the two of them, and he thought that there might be someone among them who would attract his Hyung’s heart. So, he was determined to be prepared, but now that the event actually occurred, his heart ached, and it was difficult to bear it. When he closed his eyes, he still remembered his Hyung hugging him in a small room. He remembered the promise that the two of them would always be together. “How can you say that?” He hated his Hyung. How long had he been back, and he already fell for someone else? No, maybe the years they were separated in the first place were the problem. If they had stayed together, then he might have been different. He regretted the past even though he knew that it was inevitable since it had already passed. “Hyung.” Seon-woo bit his lip. *** Miriel kept her promise. Hyeon-woo was worried that she would say something else in the middle, but it was for naught. She removed the curse from Do-jin. “Why couldn’t you have just done it?” Alberg calmly answered Ga-jun’s grumpy question. “Because of the compatibility of attributes.” In terms of cursing, detoxifying poison, and healing wounds, the angels were considered to be the best. Once freed from the curse, Do-jin’s breathing became more comfortable. His health and stamina had been cut off while under the curse, but Miriel said that he would recover as quickly as his original foundation was strong. “Thank you!” Hyeon-woo thanked Miriel. “Enough.” Miriel waved her hand and received a rough greeting. She said that once she cursed at Hyeon-woo’s request. It was the result of her heart being moved. But the uneasiness remained. Because the other was a human, who was being followed by demons. So she thought she would keep a little distance. Pushing away Hyeon-woo, who seemed like he was about to bow again, Miriel left the hospital room. Then, with a dark expression on her face, she spotted a human heading this way. “Then who might he be?” “That is Ji Seon-woo. He’s Hyeon-woo’s younger brother.” Ga-jun, who came after her, gave a brief explanation. “Your younger brother?” Did she think that one was much older? Miriel tilted her head, but she didn’t interfere any further than that. “Where did you go and why are you here now?” “I went to look for healers just in case.” “Aha! But I don’t think a healer is needed anymore. The angel over there lifted the curse. The doctor went to see her, but now she says we just need to wait for his natural recovery.” “That’s great.” “Your expression doesn’t seem like that.” Responding to Ga-jun’s words, Seon-woo looked at him again with an expression asking what he was talking about. That bastard Bro-com. Ga-jun clicked his tongue and followed Miriel, who walked away leaving Seon-woo alone. He didn’t want to, but he was the only person to watch over the angel now. “Hey, come with me!” “No! Why should I go with a human like you?” “You don’t know a thing about here!” As he quickly caught up to her, Miriel openly frowned. However, Ga-jun did not give in to her and naturally stood by her side. Although she was an angel, the enemy of Alberg, she may have had a part that could be exploited somewhere. ‘There’s nothing wrong with being close after all.’ So Ga-jun pretended to be kind and led Miriel to the hospital cafe. Seon-woo hesitated for a moment in front of the hospital room door. And then he opened the door. Do-jin, who was always lying on the bed with a dying face, stood upright. He turned to his Hyung, who was sitting next to him. The expression that was dark all the time was bright. “Hey, you’re here?” It was Alberg who greeted Seon-woo first. He nodded and looked at his Hyung again. The way he whispered and smiled with Do-jin was like sunshine. But the sunlight was not shining on him now. His stomach twisted. A bubbling black thing rose up to his throat. Seon-woo raised his hand and scratched his neck involuntarily. But nothing caught on the nails. “Hyung.” When he belatedly called his Hyung, he turned around. “Seon-woo-ya!” His Hyung jumped up from his seat and approached him. “What happened?” With an excited attitude, Hyeon-woo explained step by step what had happened so far. The angel descended with Alberg’s help, the angel treated Do-jin, and so on. “The person I saw earlier was an angel?” “Miriel? That’s right! Ga-jun probably followed her just now.” “Do Ga-jun?” “Unn!” It seemed that at some point the wall between Ga-jun and his Hyung had begun to crumble. Otherwise, there was no way he could speak so comfortably. His heart seemed to sink deeply. When he suddenly looked up, Alberg was looking at Seon-woo. They were eyes that knew something. “Hyeon-woo, Han Do-jin said he wanted to drink water?” “What? Then I’ll give it to him.” His Hyung turned around and walked towards Do-jin. It seemed that he was suffocating. So, Seon-woo turned around and walked out of the hospital room. “You’re leaving already?” “I have a lot of work to do.” That was it. His Hyung did not follow Seon-woo. Seon-woo continued walking and stood in front of the elevator. ‘I’d rather die.’ He should have disappeared from this world before Hyung understood his heart. Horrible thoughts ran through his head. The elevator that stayed on the high floor did not think it would come down easily. Eventually, he couldn’t stand it and headed for the stairs. The darker the stairs as he went down, the more his heart sank. “Hmm.” Alberg’s eyes twinkled when he saw Seon-woo leaving the hospital room. ‘This is going to be fun.’ The younger brother, who had an ardent desire to monopolize his older brother, was gradually being encroached on by the darkness. ‘The words of the angel were not wrong.’ Humans are weak and easily stained and broken. It wasn’t that the body was weak. If so, S-class Awakened wouldn’t be broken. What they were talking about was the heart. The obsession intensified and seemed to have reached its limit. How long would the broken heart last? He wouldn’t know what it was in the past, but now it was easier to get in touch with Demonic energy than before. It was because some of the demons infiltrated and opened the portal from time to time. Demonic energy pierced weak hearts really easily. ‘The cause must be Han Do-jin.’ He hesitated a bit, but it seemed like he did an excellent job saving Han Do-jin. If he did it well, he might be able to use Han Do-jin against Ji Seon-woo and make them both disappear. It wasn’t a moral choice, but so what. Being born in the Demon Realm and he was raised like this. If everything to be obsessed with disappears, then Hyeon-woo would be able to abandon his place of birth. Alberg raised the corners of his mouth and smiled. *** When Seon-woo found out that Do-jin was awake, he started to move briskly. He hurriedly settled matters with his business partners and received a gift of thanks from the United States. In the meantime, momentous changes have taken place in the United States as well. Bacardi was branded as a criminal, and most of the members of the Phoenix Guild were put on the wanted list. And in the chaos, Leon became the president of the World Awakened Association. Since most of Bacardi’s actions were taken care of by him, there was no opposition. “Congratulations.” The party to celebrate the election of the president of the association was held in a small way. They rented a hotel hall and invited only important people to have a light meal. Compared to the scale originally planned, it was shabby. “Thank you.” Receiving greetings from Seon-woo, who served as the representative of Korea, Leon also returned his bow. “I’ve really received a lot of help from you.” “Of course I had to help.” “Even so, many people had to go back because of what happened.” Leon smiled bitterly. Compared to Korea, New York in the United States was a mess. Naturally, other countries had no choice but to worry about their own affairs. That was why every Awakened with a high rank was called back. South Korea also recently asked Seon-woo to return home. It seemed that he couldn’t stand it anymore because he was anxious. Fortunately, Do-jin had recovered a lot, so he thought he could go back. “Call me if you ever need help.” Leon parted with those words and turned to deal with someone else. He had great convictions, so he wouldn’t go against his word. There were difficulties after coming to the United States, but there were many rewards harvested as well. Based on this, the Seon-Hyeon Guild would reach a higher place. They returned through a chartered flight. Even though he landed secretly at the airport, there were already a lot of people waiting. It seemed that the news had leaked somewhere. “Ji Seon-woo-ssi! A portal opened in New York. What exactly happened there!” “I heard you did an excellent job! Please let me know!” He was mobbed by many journalists. “Hyeon-woo-ya-aack! Did you get hurt?” “Handsome Ji Seon-woo! Uplifting national prestige!” Even the fans swarmed around the brothers. The airport was in chaos. 95. “It’s a work of power. What are you planning to do with him?” Miriel answered sharply. ‘As expected, I don’t like demons.’ Since she was young, she had been taught that demons were detestable species, but there was no way she would change her mind now. “I’ll give you terrible pain.” “Hey, did you think you would kneel in front of the pain!” Alberg then raised his fist. Miriel took a defensive posture against him. The room, which had been quiet the entire time, became noisy. “Stop!” Hyeon-woo, who came in between the two, raised his palm. “This is a hospital room. Stop it, Alberg.” “But that’s all nonsense!” “You must be the one, who’s talking nonsense!” “Stop it, too, Miriel. We have a patient here.” Miriel came out rugged, but first, she took back her fighting stance. Only then did Alberg lower his fist, but his expression was dissatisfied. “If that kid wasn’t needed, I would have killed him long ago.” “You are saying what I wanted to say.” The atmosphere turned grim again. And then, a familiar voice reached Hyeon-woo’s ears. “Hyeon-woo-ya.” It was Do-jin’s voice. “Do-jin Hyung!” Hyeon-woo turned around and knelt down next to Do-jin. Seeing him like that, Do-jin closed his eyes and smiled. It was a sweet and friendly smile. But as he looked at him, something choked up came out from the depths of his chest. “Why are you laughing?” Hyeon-woo said in a trembling voice. “It’s nice to see you.” Who was responsible for this? Why was this person being so generous? Hyeon-woo felt his eyes grow hot. “Are you okay?” As if he had noticed that feeling, Do-jin comforted Hyeon-woo. “Am I okay – what’s okay! When you are dying right now!” “I have no regrets. If I went back to that situation, I’d still do the same thing.” “If we went back to that situation, we should both think about surviving. Why would you act the same!” “That’s right, huh.” Having said that, Do-jin started to cough. “Doctor–should I call a doctor?” Do-jin stopped Hyeon-woo from reaching out his arm to ring his bell. “No.” “But you are coughing like this!” “This is alright.” The cough barely subsided after a while. “Hyeon-woo-ya.” “Don’t talk. Rest now.” “No, I have to say this.” “What are you saying?” “Don’t risk your life for me.” Hyeon-woo’s stomach twisted because his voice was overly determined. He casually laid down his life. Why did he do that? “No!” The answer that came naturally was not good. “Hyeon-woo-ya.” “No, You can’t!” “Hyeon-woo-ya, listen!” Following Hyeon-woo, Do-jin also raised his voice. “I don’t want to lose you.” “That’s the same for me too.” At Hyeon-woo’s words, Do-jin raised the corner of her mouth and smiled. It was a kind of sad smile. ‘I don’t want to die.’ He wanted to live and stay by Hyeon-woo’s side. After his death, Hyeon-woo might meet someone else. He would hold his hand with another, kiss him, and touch his skin. It was terrifying to even think about it, but Do-jin had no intention of letting out all of that emotion. Because he wanted Hyeon-woo to always be happy. ‘But you must live.’ He didn’t want to sacrifice Hyeon-woo’s life to survive. Do-jin stretched out his trembling hand and stroked Hyeon-woo’s cheek. His smooth cheeks were wet and damp. His heart ached at the sight of Hyeon-woo crying without a sound. He didn’t want him to cry, but he did. “Don’t cry.” Hyeon-woo shed tears without answering. “I’m not crying.” He lay and put his hand on top of Do-jin’s. His hands were still big, but he didn’t feel the strength. ‘Damn you angel!’ If they say that they can treat it, then they can treat it. Whether it was a demon or an angel, did that even matter? Hyeon-woo closed his eyes tightly and opened them. Then, he carefully put Do-jin’s hand on the bed. “Don’t think about strange things, and just rest.” Having said that, Hyeon-woo approached Miriel and grabbed her hand before she could say anything. “Follow me.” Embarrassed, Miriel tried to take her hand away, but couldn’t overcome Hyeon-woo. That was right, when he was in the Demon Realm, he fought with Alberg. It was easy to deal with Miriel, who was in a class lower than that. “Hey!” Ga-jun tried to follow but was stopped by Spotty with his eyes piercing his body. “Alberg, don’t follow me either.” The eyes looking back are fierce. Alberg shrugged his shoulders and raised both hands. “I have to follow you!” Frustrated, Ga-jun hit his chest with his fist, but Alberg looked carefree. “Hyeon-woo knew what to say to the angel!” “Perhaps he would give his life and ask for Han Do-jin to be cured?” “Why didn’t you follow him when you knew that?” “Well, I don’t think a kid would go that far.” “You don’t think that? Didn’t she openly tell him to give up his life?” Alberg laughed at Ga-jun’s words. “Looks like she’s still less affected by the ideologies of the Angels.” “Are you sure?” “Certainly.” Only then did Ga-jun release the tension from his body. In the meantime, Do-jin lost his mind again. If not, he would have been the first to get up and follow Hyeon-woo. “By the way, isn’t Han Do-jin your love rival? You don’t have to save him, do you?” “That’s the same for you. There’s no reason to save Han Do-jin, right?” “Yes, that’s true.” Alberg ran his hand over his chin. “I don’t even know why I did it either.” Ga-jun scratched his head with his hand. Both of them were fools. Giving everything for love, while he himself does not know why. “If you don’t know, then it’s fine.” Ga-jun pulled a chair and sat down on it, his arms crossed, and his eyes closed. “What are you doing!” “What are you doing!” Miriel, who had been unintentionally dragged to the corner of the rooftop, got angry. Then Hyeon-woo pushed her inside and raised his hand to hit the wall. Bang! There was a tremendous sound that was not likely to have been made by a human being. Fortunately, no one was on the roof. “Miriel.” “Huh?” Miriel shrugged her shoulders involuntarily at Hyeon-woo’s force. It’s small and doesn’t look strong, but it’s strange. “You said you would heal him if I gave you my life, right?” “That’s why I did say.” “Then I’ll give it to you now.” Seeing him approaching with his chest open, Miriel flinched and leaned back, but there was nowhere to back off. She sighed deeply and looked into Hyeon-woo’s eyes. “Is that person that precious?” “Yes.” “To the point where it’s okay to give up your life?” “Yes.” Miriel became lost in her thoughts. Her father said that humans were weak and had a propensity to evil. She thought the same of this man too, especially as he was close to Alberg, a demon. But her ideas were faltering a little. ‘Can a weak human lay down his life for others.’ A question arose. That was why she wanted to assess it. Would he be able to stick to his opinions to the end? Miriel distanced herself from Hyeon-woo and took out her spear. A precious spear telling her to defeat evil. She aimed the spear at his neck. “It may be painful.” “It’s okay.” Miriel drew her strength and threw out her spear. The spear, which was extended at high speed, was directed at Hyeon-woo’s neck. Then, with the spear embedded in a little of his neck, she stopped. Avoiding it, crying, or trembling. None of her imaginations fit what happened. He just stood there smiling. “Are you not afraid of death?” “Is there such a person, who doesn’t?” “But why?” Hyeon-woo answered Miriel’s question by rolling his eyes. “Should I say it here?” “Okay.” “I haven’t properly told Do-jin Hyung yet.” “It has nothing to do with me.” “Okay, I’ll tell you.” Hyeon-woo took a deep breath and said. “Because I like Do-jin Hyung.” “You like him?” “Yes, I like Han Do-jin!” Hyeon-woo, who shouted loudly, had a face that looked relieved. He probably didn’t notice the other human watching him from behind. If he had known, he would have lowered his voice. “I get it.” Miriel withdrew her spear. In the meantime, blood was bleeding from Hyeon-woo’s neck, but neither she nor Hyeon-woo cared. “I’ll heal whoever you want.” “Really?” “Really.” “Then what is the price?” “It’s done. I just said that to assess you. Instead, I’ll go with you to keep an eye on the demons.” Hyeon-woo’s expression bloomed at Miriel’s words. “Thank you!” “Alright. Then let’s go back.” The other human beings who appeared for a while had already disappeared. For a human being, he seemed to have great skills. He didn’t seem particularly hostile, so she didn’t think he was an enemy. Miriel glanced at the spot where she had moved from before turning her attention to Hyeon-woo. ‘Well, it doesn’t matter.’ It could have been someone passing by. “Then let’s go!” At first, it seemed that she had to solve this one. Miriel said, shaking off Hyeon-woo who was holding her hand again. “I can go by myself!” “Alright!” This expression looked much better than the gloomy face. Miriel thought so and she followed Hyeon-woo. 78. “You don’t have to take me there.” As I said this while carrying the box containing his luggage to the car, Chae Yoo-jeong followed behind, holding another box, and smiled brightly. “I have to go move my luggage to the dorm anyway. And it’s late, so how can I let you go alone?” “It’s 7:30 now.” “……” “It’s dark outside. It’s dangerous!” Are you crazy? Of course, the days got shorter and it was as dark as midnight. Oh no, it’s not even 8 p.m., but this is the first time in my life that I’ve heard someone say that it’s dangerous. I’m a healthy young man in my 20s who served in the military. “Don’t go somewhere and say something like that.” “Why am I saying this to someone other than Hyung?” “...let’s go.” The car left the underground parking lot and left the apartment complex. “Yes.” Chae Yoo-jeong, who was constantly looking at me in the passenger seat while driving, opened his mouth when the signal went off. Chae Yoo-jeong asked carefully in a very stiff voice. “Hyung, today was so good.” “There is a lot of good to be had.” “Th….” “Can’t we meet again next week and hang out?” As I was sorting out the situation by thinking over and over the moment when Yoo Chae sent me a message, I turned my head to that question. Chae Yoo-jeong was looking straight ahead as he was driving, and a nervous look was evident on the side of his face. “You think playing with me is so much fun that you want to keep seeing me?” “Of course it’s fun for me. It’s really nice to be able to meet my Hyung and have a conversation like this.” I had a strange feeling seeing Chae Yoo-jeong say without hesitation that he was happy to meet me. How can he express things like that between men without any hesitation? It’s amazing every time I see it. “I don’t know what Hyung would like.” “I’m.......” My time with Chae Yoo-jeong wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel it had much meaning. The reason I always accepted Chae Yoo-jeong’s offer to meet me in the first place was because of Yoo Chae. But now the situation has changed. If I go home today and meet Yoo Chae and solve the last problem, I will no longer have to doubt myself. So... I didn’t really want to meet Chae Yoo-jeong any more. ‘What should I answer?’ It’s a bit difficult to say out loud that you don’t want to meet in this atmosphere. Feeling embarrassed, I watched the lights passing by outside the car window and quickly came up with an excuse. “Well. It’s exam time soon, so I don’t know what will happen.” “Is it the exam period? So are you very busy?” “There are a lot of assignments, but it’s okay if exams overlap. I think I’ll live at school for a while.” Chae Yoo-jeong’s stiff shoulders slumped at my rejection. “I don’t mind hanging out for an hour or two.” “I have to reduce my eating time while doing assignments and preparing for exams. I was at school when I called you about the interview.” “Ah…” Chae Yoo-jeong, who was greatly heartbroken, looked at me with a face like a puppy getting caught in the rain. I steadfastly pretended not to see it. Even if you look at it like that, it doesn’t work. I didn’t want to cause trouble by adding various words to get my sympathy. Just like last time, I parked the car near the convenience store and Yoo-jeong followed me out of the car. “Thank you for taking me here.” “Excuse me, Hyung.” Chae Yoo-jeong, who had been dozing off while holding both his hands together, opened his mouth with an expression of lack of confidence. “Then you can meet me and have a meal… Can’t you make time for me sometimes?” Less than 20 minutes had passed since I thought I couldn’t do it, but my heart wavered a little when I faced Chae Yoo-jeong, who looked as dejected as he sounded. “...if it’s only sometimes.” I can’t help it. If you think about it, didn’t Chae Yoo-jeong spend money twice for him– on beef and today’s delivery food? If you just get something and then cut off contact, it’s trash, so it’s better to buy it once or twice and then call it a day. “Yes. That’s enough.” Chae Yoo-jeong smiled and took a step back from me. “Goodbye, Hyung. I’ll just go now.” “Okay. Drive carefully.” “Yes.” After saying my final goodbyes, I turned away first and headed home, leaving Chae Yoo-jeong behind. As I walked down the alley lit by yellow streetlights with my brows furrowed, I couldn’t stand it anymore and stroked my bangs in annoyance. ‘I’m so bothered, really.’ Why are you smiling like that? I can’t understand why he’s so sincerely disappointed about not being able to eat with me as if it’s such a big deal. “Ha... let’s forget it, forget it.” I sighed and tried to push Chae Yoo-jeong’s face away from my thoughts. For now, we need to focus on Yoo Chae. *** After arriving home and washing up, I logged in to Zenoris. As soon as I entered, I first checked whether Yoo Chae was connected. For the past month, in some ways, I’ve been doing something in vain. I tried to secretly gather evidence without Yoo Chae or Chae Yoo-jeong finding out that I was suspicious, but I wasted time in vain. ‘I should have done this a long time ago.’ If that were the case, there wouldn’t have been any inconvenience for over a month. Even if Yoo Chae was disappointed in me or criticized me, I should have asked him honestly and then apologized if I was wrong. “Hello, Hyung.” “Hi.” Yoo Chae entered the voice call room and greeted me in a bright voice. “You said you called me earlier... It was Hyung who did it, right?” “Ah, it’s true that I did it.” “I’m sorry. I don’t look at my phone when I’m playing games... so I didn’t know you’d contact me because you said you were busy today.” “It’s alright.” “Yeah. So what did you call me about?” I was wondering how to start the conversation, but thankfully Yoo Chae took the initiative to ask a question. After clearing my throat once, I opened my mouth. “Actually, there’s something I’ve wanted to ask you for a while.” “What do you want to ask me?” “I would like you to answer honestly.” “What is it?” Yoo Chae’s voice sounded like he was just curious, without any trace of nervousness. “Do you remember when I first came to Early Evening Guild? You quarreled with me. Saying that you don’t like the nickname.” “Ah... yes. I remember.” “I still don’t understand that.” This was the decisive reason why I was suspicious of Yoo Chae and Chae Yoo-jeong. “You changed your attitude when you heard that I was a Hero ranker.” “.......” “I thought it was because Hero’s username and Zenoris’ username were the same... so I thought you changed your attitude. Is that right?” As soon as he finished speaking, a cold silence came. The silence stretched for a long time, but I waited for Yoo Chae’s answer without prompting him. “Um….” After a while, Yoo Chae opened his mouth in an embarrassed voice. “I understand what you’re trying to say, but I misunderstood for another reason.” “...For another reason? What do you mean?” “Actually… I’ve already encountered the nickname ‘I’m Sleepy’ in another game.” What? “Before starting Zenoris, I played another FPS game for a while, and there I met a bad-mannered user with the nickname ‘I’m Sleepy.’” —-- Notes: [1] Insider - 인싸[In-ssa] 인싸 in Korea is someone who gets along very well with lots of people, follows all the trends and are considered very cool! 77. “Here’s the medicine.” When Chae Yoo-jeong returned a while later, his face was much calmer than before. Contrary to my worries, he didn’t cry and the area around his eyes was fine. On top of Chae Yoo-jeong’s large hand was a small, crumpled ointment. I looked at the medicine he gave me. “This is what you apply when you have a wound.” “...This medicine won’t work?” “I have bruises.” Chae Yoo-jeong, who heard me, asked with a look of confusion. “I-I didn’t know. I’ll go to the pharmacy and buy it now. Can I just say it’s medicine for bruises?” “It’s alright. I don’t need medicine.” “Next time, I’ll prepare in advance....” What do you mean by next time? I have no reason to come to this house again. I sighed and returned the medicine and pointed out what I had been curious about earlier. “The house is clean, but it doesn’t look like there are a lot of things, and one of the medicines is all dried out. I heard you’ve been living alone for a long time?” “Yes……” “How on earth did you live like this?” Chae Yoo-jeong seemed a little embarrassed by the state of his almost-used medicine, so he hurriedly hid it in his hand and smiled shyly. “I’ve never been hurt that much… After I turned 20, I moved into a dormitory and only came back once or twice a year. I didn’t have time to decorate. A lady comes and does the cleaning.” Since he was 20 years old, he has moved into a dormitory and has been away from home often... Did he eventually start living in this house before he was 20 years old? “Didn’t you take a break for a year after last year’s Hold Cup?” “The director and coaches knew that I lived alone, so I alternated between my house and the dormitory during my break.” At least the LVS team seems to have paid some attention. He’s lucky that one of the coaches is his cousin. ‘He said his parents doesn’t have a gentle personality. Moreover, it is a remarried family.’ Even if you remarry and have an indifferent personality, is it right to send your child, who is not even an adult, to live alone? Or are there other circumstances? As my expression gradually hardened, I cautiously opened my mouth, wondering if I had misunderstood Chae Yoo-jeong. “Hyung, are you really okay? There’s a pharmacy nearby, so you can get it quickly.” “It’s funnier to put medicine on my ass. Can you please stop paying attention to my ass now?” I scolded him because he was in the wrong for suddenly pulling my arm, but I didn’t want him to keep looking at me like this. When I added a joke on purpose, Chae Yoo-jeong’s pale cheeks turned peach-like and he shook his head. “What? N-no. I’m not interested in your butt!” Oh my, I see? Even a single teasing makes him incredibly embarrassed. I tapped Chae Yoo-jeong on the shoulder and went into the bedroom. “Let’s just clean up what needed to be cleaned.” *** The packing was completed as quickly as expected. All we had to do was separate clothes and small items and put them in boxes, so even if we took our time, an hour was enough. “Hyung, are you really going to leave right away without eating?” As soon as Chae Yoo-jeong, who had been glancing at me the whole time I was organizing, put the cover on the box, he immediately asked. “There is a good place just a short drive away. how about that?” Chae Yoo-jeong looked nervous as he invited me again, perhaps because he had made the mistake of begging me to have lunch with him. It’s a good place... Surely it’s not similar to the place where I ate beef last time? Chae Yoo-jeong had made many serious mistakes when he offered me beef, so I obediently accepted it, but this time it was different. I don’t want to help you organize your luggage just to get something expensive in return. After thinking for a moment, I crossed my arms and said. “Instead of going out and eating, I’ll eat it if the food is set at home. It’s a hassle to go out and get in a car.” “Really? It’s great to eat at home! What should we eat?” “We can have it delivered, or we can just eat whatever you have already. It doesn’t matter. Is there anything in the refrigerator?” “Haha... I’ll have it delivered.” Well then. I asked Chae Yoo-jeong as naturally as possible as he took out his cell phone. “Can I take a look around the house before the food comes?” “Yes! Take it easy.” I heard someone was looking at someone else’s house and it was my first time seeing someone like me like that. After leaving the bedroom, I slowly looked at each room, starting with the living room. Since all the doors were open, there was no inconvenience in walking around and looking around. Rather, I felt like everything was left open for people to see. The more I looked inside the house, the more I noticed the lack of furniture and interior decoration. Of course there were no plants or flowers, and there were no calendars or clocks or anything like that. The whole house felt rigid and there was no warmth. But that doesn’t mean that no one lives here at all... There were a lot of clothes in the dressing room, a cell phone charger was plugged in, and books were scattered on the table. In short, although he lived at home, he seemed to have no affection for the space itself. “I ordered chicken and pizza because they looked okay, is it okay?” “Good job.” Chae Yoo-jeong spoke from behind me as I was examining the book thrown on the living room sofa. When I lightly praised him, the guy with sparkling eyes blinked. “I’m going to make a phone call for a moment.” When the cell phone he was holding vibrated, Chae Yoo-jeong asked for my permission and headed back to the bedroom. The tone of voice he received on the phone, whether it was work-related or not, was lower and stiffer than before. After confirming that Chae Yoo-jeong had entered the bedroom, I also took out my cell phone. [Yoo Chae: Hyung, this is so cute] [Yoo Chae: (Link)] [Yoo Chae: Hyung’s favorite dog hahahaha] [Yoo Ji-han: ㅋㅋㅋ cute] [Yoo Chae: >_<] This was a message I received this morning before meeting Chae Yoo-jeong. After a moment of conflict as I tapped the screen of my phone with my thumb, I composed myself and clicked on Yoo Chae’s profile. And then I pressed the ‘Make a call’ button. Since I used the voice talk function in the messenger, I was able to make a call even without the other person’s number. When I brought the cell phone to my ear, a signal went off with a ringing sound effect. While waiting for Voice Talk to connect, I focused on the vibration or notification sound of another cell phone that I might hear somewhere in the house. But nothing was heard. Even if I waited until the signal was lost, the call was not connected. I guessed it, but it was true that I was disappointed. “……” I took a deep breath, looked at the messenger window where the connection was automatically disconnected, and then turned off the screen. Chae Yoo-jeong, who had just entered the bedroom, finished talking on the phone and came back to the living room. “I’m sorry. I told the team that I would pack up and move today. I called to confirm that.” “I don’t care. It’s your house. Why are you looking at me?” “Still. There’s still some time left for the delivery to arrive. Would you like to play a game? Besides computers, I also have PS and Xbox. Or you can install the game...” Chae Yoo-jeong, who spoke with a shy smile, seemed to just be enjoying the situation. I’ve been thinking about this since I went to the PC room, and he really likes playing games with me. That was the time when I thought that way. The cell phone he was holding in his hand vibrated, and a message came out. “……!” When I saw the contents of the message in the preview, my eyes widened. [Yoo Chae: Hyung?] The hand holding the phone shook slightly. I was so surprised by the unimaginable situation that I looked at Chae Yoo-jeong, unable to hide my emotions. How... is this possible? Chae Yoo-jeong did not have a cell phone in his hand, and the messenger did not have a reservation function. No, even if there was a reservation function, it was realistically impossible to get the timing right to this level. ‘Now that there’s conclusive proof that Yoo Chae and Chae Yoo-jeong being different people, I couldn’t quite figure out how to react. I got proof that the two are not the same person... Why do I have such complicated feelings?’ As I stood there absorbed in the tangled mess in my head, Chae Yoo-jeong noticed the unusual atmosphere and held on to the sesame seeds with a stern expression. “Hyung, what’s wrong?” “...Nothing.” As I hurriedly put my cell phone in my pocket and smiled, Chae Yoo-jeong narrowed his eyes. “It’s nothing. You were very surprised. What’s going on?” “Nothing special.” “You can’t tell me?” Why is he so persistent? I avoided eye contact and made up any excuse. “You know the guy I explained to you in the car the other day? I forgot to block him, but now he sent a new message.” “Kim Eui-chan... is that him? Did that person contact you again?” “Uh. I’m going to block it now, so you don’t have to worry about it.” Just then, the bell rang through the house as if the delivery food had arrived. Chae Yoo-jeong, who had been licking his lips as if he wanted to ask me more, eventually gave up and went out to get some food. I looked at Chae Yoo-jeong’s back as he headed toward the entrance and quickly took out the cell phone he had put in his pocket. And I sent a reply to Yoo Chae. 76. “Hyung, you’re here!” Chae Yoo-jeong drove out to meet me in front of the station near my house. Chae Yoo-jeong called me in the brightest voice I’ve ever heard and stopped his car right in front of me. Perhaps because his destination today was home, he was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. “Why are you so excited?” When I sat down in the passenger seat and asked, Chae Yoo-jeong immediately started the car as if he was afraid that I might run away. “Of course I’m excited. I thought Hyung would eventually reject it. So I was giving up.” “Why are you giving up after even talking about your parents?” Despite my harsh response, Chae Yoo-jeong smiled brightly. “It’s not like I had a bad relationship with my parents or any major disagreements. But my mother’s personality isn’t very friendly, so we’re not as close as other families. She also remarried.” “...There is no need to tell me in such detail.” “I think I made you worry for no reason by talking about my parents.” It was a bit surprising. I thought he was from a rich family who grew up with a lot of love. The idea of being like a rich boy was just something I came up with on my own. ‘The reasons for accepting the offer are different.’ It wasn’t a decision I made because I felt sympathy for his parents. Since I was using Chae Yoo-jeong to resolve my doubts, the reason could even be considered much worse. The car drove on the road without stopping and arrived at the apartment complex about 40 minutes later. After parking in the underground parking lot, I got out of the car with Chae Yoo-jeong and asked as we got on the elevator. “Didn’t you say you live alone?” “Yes, I live alone.” I felt an unusual energy from the elevator and realized it the moment Chae Yoo-jeong opened the front door of his house. This guy... he’s from a rich family. A wide entrance and living room appeared. A quick glance at the house, which was large enough for a family of four, seemed to have more than three rooms. “You live here alone?” “Yes.” When asked again, Chae Yoo-jeong nodded his head with a bright expression. It was like he doesn’t even understand why I kept asking the same old questions. Suddenly, the story I heard about his parents in the car earlier took on a different meaning to my ears. I see... I actually heard about the indifferent family life of a rich family that I only saw in dramas…… “Hyung, why aren’t you coming in?” As I was lost in thought for a moment, thinking about my own living room, Chae Yoo-jeong, who had been hesitating next to me, grabbed my wrist. I was obediently dragged by the force and took off my sneakers and entered the living room, where Chae Yu-jeong ran to his kitchen in a huff and brought out a glass filled with juice. “Drink!” “Un.” It looks like it was poured and put in the refrigerator to give to me when I arrive to his home. The way he acts seems like a puppy bringing a toy to its owner. I asked, taking a quick look around the house as I sipped in some orange juice. “Where should I start organizing?” “Huh? Ah, organizing?” “Yes. It looks neat at first glance.” There were no messy items and it wasn’t dirty. For some reason, it feels like he just finished cleaning. Chae Yoo-jeong responded with an embarrassed expression when he was told that it was neat. “I did some cleaning before Hyung came.” “...You said you cleaned it in advance? Then what did you call me for?” “Hyung, you just need to pack up a few things. This is my room.” Chae Yoo-jeong casually took the empty glass from my hand and led me to the room closest to the living room. The room with the bookshelf and computer and the books and trophies was filled with a refreshing scent. “Have you ever sprayed perfume or deodorant?” “No, I didn’t?” He didn’t spray anything, but a room owned by a boy smells like this? It’s as believable as sleeping in an apartment alone with no other tenants. “You can comfortably look around the other rooms. I’m going to wash that cup and then come back.” After seeing Chae Yoo-jeong leaving the room, I walked over to the computer that was turned on. The clean desktop had only the Internet, a couple of folders, and the Hero game icon. Before Chae Yoo-jeong returned, I had to look for any traces of Zenoris. First, I searched for the English name of Zenoris in the file search window. Usually, once a game is installed, even if you delete it, some of the files remain, and they may have been hidden by hidden folder settings, so using the search function was the most accurate method. ‘It doesn’t show up.’ However, even though I searched for various words, there was no file that came up. Lastly, I turned on the control panel and looked at the list of installed programs, but there were no other games installed other than Hero. ‘I think there’s only one computer in the house.’ Since he knew I was coming, there is a possibility that he deleted the file in advance. However, this was only a guess; the reality was that Zenoris was not installed on the computer. “…….!” “Zenoris?” As I was lost in thought while looking at the control panel folder, I was startled by Chae Yoo-jeong’s voice coming from behind me. I quickly turned off the control panel and looked back to see Chae Yoo-jeong standing there with a puzzled expression. ‘Oh my god.’ It was suspicious behavior to anyone and lack of courtesy. In an instant, I became a gloomy person who visits other people’s houses and secretly browses their computers. “S-sorry. This.......” “What are you sorry about? Hyung, do you want to play a game?” “Uh?” But Chae Yoo-jeong approached me without any sign of offense and said. “I only have Hero installed, so I have to install a new one to do it. Still, the installation will be pretty quick, shall we?” “...I came to pack up my things. What are you going to do while I play games?” “For me, just watching from the side is enough.” “…….” If you turn on Zenoris here, you can find out whether Yoo Chae is currently connected to the game. but....... “That’s enough.” I didn’t really want to do that. I have another method in mind. As I looked into Chae Yoo-jeong’s eyes, which did not contain the slightest unpleasant emotion, I felt guilty that I had done something very bad. I lightly tapped Chae Yoo-jeong on the shoulder and asked. “Let’s pack up your things. What else am I here for?” *** The innermost room that Chae Yoo-jeong guided us to was the bedroom. There were disorganized clothes and belongings scattered on the bed, and an empty box was placed underneath it. “These are clothes and things to wear when living in the dorm. I’m just going to fill up the box and take them with me.” “Can I just fill in the clothes here? What about the other clothes?” “Just taking that much is enough. The other clothes are in the room across from me since that’s where I store my clothes.” There’s also a dressing room, right? It’s amazing, really. “It’s only a small amount, so it will be over quickly. I’ll go right away once everything is sorted out.” “What? Why? Come eat with me! There are a lot of delicious things around here.” “No.” I was about to go into the bedroom, briefly answering Chae Yoo-jeong’s whining, when hia big hand grabbed my arm. “Uck!” At that exact moment, I stepped on the box cover underneath, my legs slipped, and my body stumbled backwards. “Hyung...!” At the same time as Chae Yoo-jeong’s cry, a loud roar rang out. Chae Yoo-jeong, who fell with me while holding my body, looked at me with a pensive face. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?” “Awww.” A tingling pain rose from the area around my tailbone where it hit the floor. When I raised my upper body, making a groaning sound, Chae Yoo-jeong fidgeted and grabbed my waist with both hands. “D-does it hurt? Where are you go...ack!” I smacked Chae Yoo-jeong’s forehead with my palms while he hurriedly checked my condition. Ppak! Chae Yoo-jeong let out a scream with a light hitting sound. “Why does this bastard keep pulling at me dangerously like that? Can’t you be more careful?” “Sorry.......” “It’s a good thing there’s nothing around. What would have happened if you had made a mistake and hit your head on a corner?” Chae Yoo-jeong lowered the corners of his eyes and looked tearful as I was scolding him severely to prevent something like this from happening again. “I’m sorry.” “My ass hurts so bad because of you.” “D-did you get bruised? Let me see.” “……” This guy is really crazy.... Chae Yoo-jeong, who belatedly realized what he had said, blushed brightly and shook his head as I glared at him with my salty, cold eyes. “N-no! I didn’t ask you that with the intention to look at your ass!” “Shut up.” “It’s because I’m genuinely worried! It’s a misunderstanding!” “Let go of my waist so I can get up.” “……!” Only then did he notice the hands holding my waist, which trembled and belatedly let go. Chae Yoo-jeong’s face and even his neck were now bright red. When I saw that, I felt a little sorry for him. It’s true that he was wrong... but he seemed really startled. Was I being too harsh? Is he going to cry like this? “You can make a mistake once. It’s okay. Just be careful next time.” “Y-yes.......” Chae Yoo-jeong got up from where he was sat after me and mumbled while covering half of his face with his hand. “I’m really sorry. Please rest. Okay, I’m going to go to the bathroom for a moment, find some medicine, and then come back.” “I don’t need medicine....” Before he could hear my answer, Chae Yoo-jeong turned his back and hurriedly left the bedroom. When I glanced at him, the corners of his eyes were moist, as if tears were about to fall at any moment. What do I do? Is he really going to go to the bathroom and cry? I scratched my head and clicked my tongue. I was planning to go right after I finished packing his bags and go looking for evidence, but things got weird. Anyway, not a single day goes by without an accident. A sigh came out of my mouth. --- Credits: Translator: Hoshi Miya Editor: Meimei Support on Kofi: Chapter 77, 78, 79, 80 Chapter 81, 82, 83, 84 Chapter 85, 86, 87, 88 Chapter 89, 90, 91, 92 We made a Discord Server! please join us!
- My Younger Brother is a Hero Chapter 94
94. It was already too late to talk nicely. With Alberg on their side, the possibility of Miriel listening to their story was infinitely low. “Alberg!” When Hyeon-woo called, Alberg turned around. Even in the midst of Miriel’s attack, there was no hesitation in his actions. “Catch!” As soon as Hyeon-woo said that, Alberg grinned. “As you say.” Before Miriel became enraged at the conversation between the two, Alberg, who moved quickly, grabbed the stabbing spear. Then he struck Miriel in the stomach. “Cough!” Miriel tried to avoid it somehow, but in the end he caught her neck. Alberg grabbed her neck and released it, but in the blink of an eye, a strange tattoo was left around her neck. “I caught you.” It was an absurdly short battle. “What is this!” Miriel scratched her neck belatedly, but the tattoo did not disappear. “It won’t go away, so stop scratching at it.” “What the hell is this!” “It’s a light binding magic.” “You’re lying!” Miriel panicked at that. The tattoo was restricting her freedom. “Really. I’ll let you go if you do a little favor for me.” “I cannot trust the words of the demons. Release me!” “Why would I release you?” Alberg looked at Miriel with pathetic eyes and was carried by Hyeon-woo who was approaching. “Hyeon-woo! I got you what you wanted!” Praise me, please! Alberg looked at Hyeon-woo with those eyes. “Thank you.” Hyeon-woo reached out and stroked Alberg’s head. Thanks to this, he captured the angel. All that remained was to convince her. “Let’s change our location.” “Did you hear that? Follow me.” “Why me!” Miriel made an angry expression. She rebelled several times in the journey, but it seemed that the pain was severe. In the end, she gave up and quietly followed Hyeon-woo. He thought there would be more resistance. Alberg answered with a smile as if he had noticed Hyeon-woo’s thoughts. “Because she’s still young.” She did not seem to have experienced an actual fight before. Hyeon-woo took Miriel to the lounge. “Where have you been? What? Who is that beautiful woman with you?” Only Ga-jun was left in the lounge. “Seon-woo?” “He’s been looking around for medicine. He is in the hospital. So who’s behind you?” How should he explain it? The wings were tucked in, but from the appearance to the clothes she was wearing, she was far from ordinary. She even held a spear in one hand. “It’s a long story.” “I have a lot of time.” Ga-jun replied with a smirk. “Okay.” Hyeon-woo decided to explain quickly as time was running out. “This is Miriel, an angel.” “She’s really an angel? A real angel?” “That’s what she is by human standards.” “Hoo?” Ga-jun looked down at Miriel from top to bottom. “How rude!” “Yes, yes.” Miriel shouted as her body trembled, but Ga-jun only laughed. Then, Hyeon-woo sat down with Miriel across the table in the living room. Alberg calmly sat next to Hyeon-woo and wrapped his arms around him. “I’ll at least serve some coffee.” Ga-jun hummed and headed for the kitchen. “Do you think I’m going to drink what a human colluding with the demons gives me!” Miriel was nervous, but Ga-jun didn’t even listen. He just calmly brewed coffee. When no one listened to what he said, he huffed and closed his eyes. He didn’t see anything; he didn’t seem to hear anything. But it was difficult to do so. Hyeon-woo swallowed a deep sigh and spoke. “Miriel.” “Don’t call me by my name.” “Please. Help me.” “There’s no reason for me to help.” “I know. Still, I have no choice but to hang on to hope.” Although Alberg, who was sitting next to him, made a disapproving expression, he did not interrupt Hyeon-woo. “Would you like some coffee?” “I don’t want to hear it.” In the meantime, Ga-jun came out into the living room with three cups of finished coffee. One cup for Hyeon-woo, one for Miriel, and the other one seemed to be his own. Only Alberg was left out. “What about me!” Alberg pouted his lips and said, but Ga-jun didn’t seem to have any intention of brewing more coffee. He fought under these circumstances. Hyeon-woo first pushed his coffee in front of Alberg. And started talking. The things that are currently happening in this world, the important people who have been hurt because of it. Just in case, Miriel might change her mind, so she carefully followed her words one by one. “The demons are plotting things?” After hearing the whole story, Miriel finally opened her eyes. “A precious person got hurt because of that.” “...That’s not important to me.” Although she said so, her tone softened more than the first time. “It is to me.” Hyeon-woo asked again in an anxious voice. “So, please help.” Miriel closed her mouth tightly. She then brought her hand to the coffee cup in front of her as her throat burned. When she saw him, Ga-jun smiled slightly, but she didn’t notice and took a sip of coffee. At the same time, Miriel’s eyes widened. “What kind of tea is this?” “Is the coffee delicious?” Ga-jun replied. Miriel looked at Ga-jun with a disgusted expression, then put her lips on her coffee cup again. “Is it delicious?” Alberg, who was looking at his coffee placed in front of him, looked at Ga-jun with a suspicious expression. Certainly, Ga-jun was good at brewing coffee, but that didn’t mean that the young angel would fall in love with it. He complained about not having his own, but at least the coffee didn’t suit Alberg’s taste. “It’s delicious.” Ga-jun leaned back on the sofa and answered. It was especially because milk and condensed milk were added to the coffee of the angel. It was something he sometimes does for someone he was dating, but he tried it this time in particular. It was all to help Hyeon-woo. Miriel emptied her entire cup of coffee with her graceful demeanor. She then licked her lips softly. “Would you like more?” The little head nodded back and forth subtly. Ga-jun, who saw him, went back to the kitchen with the attitude of a victor. Was it because it was sweet? Miriel’s demeanor became even more hostile. That said, he didn’t offer to treat her, but that was all. “Why don’t we go and have a look?” Ga-jun offered a new cup of coffee and added a hint of sweetness again. “We don’t know, but the angel should see what’s happening with her own eyes, right? Wouldn’t it be nice if you knew exactly what was going on?” “Is it?” Miriel, who quietly accepted the coffee, tilted her head. “Yeah. So let’s go together.” Ga-jun gently lured Miriel. He didn’t particularly like Do-jin, but he had seen Hyeon-woo suffering by his side. He realized this while watching Hyeon-woo fall apart some while ago. Do-jin shouldn’t die yet. It was harder for the living to win than the dead. So Do-jin had to live. “That’s great.” As a result, Ga-jun obtained a promise from Miriel that she would see Do-jin once. With that decided, all that was left was to move. “Wait.” Ga-jun filled a thermos bottle with coffee and took it. Afterwards, they quickly moved along with the helicopter with the help of Elisa. “Here you are.” Hyeon-woo nervously guided Miriel. Do-jin was still the same. Several doctors and Awakened surrounded him, but he was slowly dying. “Ask everyone to leave at once.” According to Miriel’s words, all the people waiting in the hospital room were sent out. Miriel started to look at Do-jin after everyone had left. “It’s a curse. Didn’t you say that the black dragon put a curse on him? Black dragons living in the Demon Realm are terrible. This is not going to come off easily.” In an instant, his heart sank. “Then what should I do? Is there any way, any way to save him?” Hyeon-woo unknowingly clung to Miriel and asked pitifully. “How?” Human beings were attached to each other. But it wasn’t as disgusting as she thought. Miriel was troubled. her father said humans who colluded with demons are trash. However, seeing a human clinging to save a precious person, was it okay to call it trash? She couldn’t tell. “Please, please. I’ll do anything.” “Are you going to do anything? Then would you give me your life if I had asked?” Maybe that was why it sounded wrong when it came out of her mouth. “What are you crazy!” Ga-jun, who was next to him, protested first. Alberg also glared at Miriel, with his eyes widened. “I don’t know what nonsense you are talking about, young angel.” However, Hyeon-woo’s response was different. “If you can save him, then I can give you as much as you want.” The black eyes were shining with intense determination. It was the sound of giving up one’s life for real. Miriel’s heart trembled. She looked at a dying human being and then looked at Hyeon-woo again. “Kid, don’t even think of fooling around.” Alberg growled, showing his teeth. 49. Ji-soo and Deok-man ran after Kero, but eventually collapsed from exhaustion. “Gasp gasp, no. There’s no end to this!” In the first place, humans couldn’t beat dogs in a running race. But the opponent was also a monster! There was no way we could win. Then, Ji-soo replied with a sly smile. “Let’s take a hostage! Dig up a trap.” We couldn’t defeat a monster, but wouldn’t we be able to take on the weak Hyeon-woo? Hearing Ji-soo’s plan, Deok-man put on a serious expression. “You mean Ji Hyeon-woo?” “Yeah! Deok-man, you’re quite in shape since you work out. On the other hand, Hyeon-woo looks too skinny! Let’s catch him and have the monsters bring back the marbles.” Though normally the Awakened depend on their abilities, they typically also have an upgraded body. However, since Hyeon-woo is on the slender side, he seemed weak. “Okay, let’s do it!” The two held out their arms and exchanged sharp glances. It was necessary to attract more people for the plan. “Uh, isn’t that a bit sneaky?” “Unnie, not you too. There’s no problem with being a bit sneaky?” (EN: Unni - Older sister. Title used between familiar women) It was not like Lee Young, who was thrown out of the same team to the bottom in the last game for saying that she would win alone. “Right? I was just saying too.” Lee Young smiled meanly and rubbed both hands. “Great, so now Lee Young-Unnie and Ji Hong are going to be together?” “The other two?” “The two of them can do this, so leave them alone. You need someone to attract the attention of the monsters.” “Then he can do it.” The four of them moved together in conspiracy. Without a shared walkie-talkie, they decided to gather once someone discovered Hyeon-woo. “Let’s go!” The four dispersed in different directions. Not long after, Ji Hong saw Hyeon-woo standing on the hill. “Wow, he’s so relaxed. Just sitting and basking in the sun.” “Ah, look at him sitting leisurely.” “He’s in a very open area. Can we catch him?” “Let’s come at him from multiple directions and catch him between us.” “Okay, okay.” As soon as the four gathered, they surrounded the hill and slowly began to narrow their siege. As they crept closer, Hyeon-woo stood up. “Uh, let’s go. Run at him!” “Whoaaaaa!” Four people began sprinting toward Hyeon-woo, who screamed. Hyeon-woo seemed hit with the realization that he knew he would be caught and held ransom. The four thought so. But there was something they didn’t know, Hyeon-woo already knew they were approaching. “Kirreuk!” A heavy thing landed on Ji-soo’s head, who was running hard. “Kyak!” Flustered, she stopped on the spot and shook her head, but the monster clung to it and did not fall off. “What, what is this!” Then, something smashed into Deok-man’s butt, who was coming from the opposite direction. “Ugh!” Though he didn’t fall, Deok-man struggled to keep his balance and faltered in formation. That gap was just enough for Hyeon-woo to escape. Hyeon-woo threaded himself between Ji-soo and Deok-man like flowing water and waved his hand to his new point of safety. At the same time, Spotty and Kero jumped to escape with Hyeon-woo. “Ah, agh!” Lee Young, who noticed the fact too late, pointed a finger, but the three of them were already running away. “We missed them!” “Ugh. I-it’s okay. We’ll have more opportunities.” Ji-soo said while tidying up her messy hair. However, Hyeon-woo was a newcomer. Even if Hyeon-woo’s luck had led to their preemptive discovery, they were forced to retreat because of the monsters. While they were stewing in defeat, the monsters continued finding the marbles one by one and finished the game! Du-gu-du-gu-du-gu! A cheerful drum sound resounded, and MC Soo-gwang exclaimed. “Congratulations! Today’s winner is the Monster Team!” “Kirreuk!” “Wang wang! Wang wang!” Spotty triumphantly circled over their heads while Kero barked excitedly with a puffed chest. “I lost, we lost.” Jae-yeon sighed and said. “No, we had so many people on our side, so I really thought we would win!” Ji-hong said with a sad expression on her face. “How are these monsters so smart? Are the other monsters just as smart?” “No. Spotty and Kero are particularly smart.” At those words, Spotty and Kero pushed out their chests further pridefully. “Wow, really!” “Then, is this over? Really over?” “It’s so unfair! Let’s have a revenge match!” “Alright then. Normally I would just end it, but how often do we get something like this? Let’s have a revenge match.” Saying so, Soo-gwang took out a box and showed it. “What’s this?” “This box has several different games written on paper! We’ll draw one to determine what we do for the revenge match. The losing side makes the draw.” “Me, I’ll do it!” Ji-soo raised her hand. “Okay, let’s pick our youngest one. Ji-soo’s usually lucky.” “Right, right!” “Well then~” Ji-soo put her hand in the box and felt around. She took out a note and unfolded it. “Let’s see. Eating Contest?” “Eh? What’s this?” “Nice one! There will be a lot to eat! One person from each team will come out at a time to eat. They can be swapped out with other team members. The team that eats the most wins.” “Uh-huh.” For a moment, people’s eyes turned to Spotty and Kero. “It won’t grow bigger, right?” “Nah.” “Then, it’s worth a try, ya?” How much would they need to eat to take back their pride? The members of the Human team gained new resolve. “I mean, I even got 3rd place in the eating contest!” Ji-hong smiled and came out first. They were served mini hamburgers and given 10 minutes. From Hyeon-woo’s side, Kero came first. “But can dogs even eat hamburgers?” “Not normal dogs, so owners at home take care not to feed your pets human food. Kero is a monster, so he’ll be okay.” “Aha, I see.” “Then, the eating contest starts now!” Ding! With the sound of the bell, Ji-hong began to rapidly inhale the mini hamburgers. “They’re going at about the same speed!” Each time Kero opened his mouth, he swallowed one hamburger. “How’re you hanging in there? Does your stomach feel like it’s gonna explode yet?” “I’ve got this. It’s easier than I thought!” While the team members were chatting, Ji Hong ate more than 20 hamburgers. “Not yet, I can keep going!” As she passed 30, Ji-hong’s eating speed gradually slowed down. But Kero was still swallowing the hamburger with an expression reminiscent of a Tibetan fox. “I-I can’t do it anymore.” In the end, Ji-hong backed off and Jae-yeon stepped up. He also worked hard, but he couldn’t beat Kero. Around that time, Kero switched places with Spotty. “Wang.” It was not because he was really full, but because he was tired of it. Spotty, who exchanged with Kero’s place, rubbed his front paws gently in anticipation. Lately he had been obsessed with human food. Spotty didn’t even swallow one at a time. He used his long snout to bite three at a time, swallowing and chewing them together at an incredible speed. “I feel somewhat cheated.” After replacing him again, Lee-young ate the hamburgers with a cry. Spotty swapped in and rapidly emptied the plates and began to look at the plates in front of Lee Young. Then, he couldn’t stand the short time when the hamburgers were served, and sneaked away to eat a hamburger in front of Lee young. “Aah!” When Ji-soo, who was watching from behind, made a sound, Spotty naturally returned the plate and pretended to be calm. Without the camera recording, he would have thought the hamburger was gone. “This is a foul! Foul!” Lee-young said while biting the hamburger, but Soo-kwang shook his head. “This is a kind of a suicide goal. The competition continues.” “No, where’s the next one!” “Here it is. Is it even worth still trying now?” That also made sense, so Lee-young shut her mouth again and started eating. Although they worked so hard, the second match of revenge also turned out to be a victory for the Monster team. Hyeon-woo hadn’t even come out yet. “Uah, at least it was fun!” Ji-hong held out her hand while saying that. Hyeon-woo also held out his hand and smiled. “We had fun too.” “Will you come back on the show again? I want to play with the Spotty!” Ji-soo was also enthusiastic as she talked to him. “I want to play with Kero!” Lee-young spoke up, and Deok-man rose to shake hands as well. “I really enjoyed today. It seems like it’s been a long time since we’ve been this into the games.” “Thank you.” After the rest of the team members exchanged pleasantries, MC Soo-gwang wrapped up the challenge and filming finished for the day. *** After shooting the episode, Hyeon-woo lazily rolled around. He enjoyed his peaceful day with Do-jin, Seon-woo, Spotty, and Kero. “Hmm.” Hyeon-woo, who had slept in, got up from his seat and wriggled down on the sofa. Seon-woo wanted his Hyung to lead a regular life, but that was easier said than done. He was barely active with Seon-woo present, returning to laying down once his younger brother left for work. Do-jin did not actively dissuade Hyeon-woo. “Eat breakfast and go to bed.” He sat the limp Hyeon-woo down and placed a tray in front of him. Eggs and bacon with piping hot oatmeal. I liked Korean food, but the occasional Western meal wasn’t bad either. When he finished eating half asleep, Do-jin patted him on the back. At first, this behavior was very awkward, but who did it? But humans are animals of adaptation. Hyeon-woo slowly began to adapt to Do-jin’s behavior. It was at this time that he fell asleep in Do-jin’s arms for a long time while his body digested the meal he ate. He woke up back up at 12 o’clock. “Lunch will be ready around 1 o’clock.” “Yes.” The hours seemed so long. ------ Credits: Translator: Hoshi Miya Editor/Proofreader: YaagRabRag YRR: Hyeon-woo confuses me so much with how he lives his life. - My Younger Brother is a Hero Chapter 48
48. 5:50 p.m. A-yun checked the clock and laid out perfectly-popped popcorn, French fries, and coca cola on the table. “Oppa! It’ll start soon.” After her shout, Ja-yun walked over and sat down on the sofa next to her. “There are still ten minutes left until it starts.” “Yeah but it’s only ten minutes. I’m super excited today.” Today’s Also A Challenge! had special guest appearances sometimes. The today’s special guest was someone that A-yun and Ja-yun knew. It’s Ji Hyeon-woo! “Will they show that monster …. Spotty?” “Maybe?” “That’ll be interesting.” A-yun said that and laughed out loud. “It’s really interesting! All Awakened are surely going to be sitting in front of the TV watching the show.” Numerous guilds showed interest in the monsters Hyeon-woo had tamed, but the Seon-Hyeon Guild did not seem to have any intention of revealing them separately. So he brought both monsters to the broadcast. Some may ask for the original version of the show. “You know, we can just ask for the original version of the show.” “Can’t we watch the show? There are only three more times we agreed to meet.” The last time they met had also been the dungeon portal fiasco. They agreed not to count that against their agreement. “Also, it’s just fun to watch the edited version in real time. I think it’s been too long since Oppa has watched the aired shows.” A-yun ate freshly fried French fries and beat Ja-yun. “Well, as long as you’re having fun, that’s fine.” In the meantime, the commercials ended, and the full-fledged broadcast began. 『Today’s a Challenge too!』 The first-person speaking was the main MC Park Soo-kwang. After his usual remarks and others’ greetings, the first thing that appeared was the monster. “Wow, that’s a black dragon.” Spotty was huge. He reportedly took out a number of elite fighters in New York and went up against three teams of the Guardian Guild. Beyond that, they only knew that the monster had been taken care of, and they weren’t sure what other abilities he had now. You mean Hyeon-woo dealt with a monster like that? Goosebumps swelled up A-yun’s spine. “I want to see it for myself.” “Then ask them to.” “Unn.” A-yun put down the fries she was eating and began to focus on the screen. “Today’s game is a hidden treasure hunt! There are several small balls with hints hidden in this lot now. Find it, combine hints, find out where the treasure is, and bring it here to win!” At Park Soo-kwang’s words, Je-yeon asked. “That’s how we normally play the game. Today’s important thing is how to divide teams!” “I know, right? There are seven people, so how do we split us up?” Ji-soo raised her hand and quickly spoke, “I want to team up with Ji Hyeon-woo!” “Me too!” “Me too!” “No, in that case, how do you choose a team?” “Well?” “Ahahaha!” Ji-hong laughed out loud. “Ji Hyeon-woo-ssi, you’re very popular. But we aren’t splitting the teams like that today!” “Then how will we?” “The teams will be divided like this! Monster Team vs Human Team!” “What?” When Lee-young heard this, her eyes widened as if surprised. She was surprised that the monster she thought they were just showing off would participate in the game. “Ji Hyeon-woo, Spotty, and Kero are a team!” “Eh? Uh?” Is this a disadvantage or an advantage? Everyone was puzzled. Their opponent was someone who handled high-ranking monsters. That power made it easy to win. However, younger audiences wouldn’t be able to watch the show if done improperly. So what if they fight in a cute state that doesn’t show any power? Wouldn’t it be more advantageous to have six people? Since Ji Hyeon-woo didn’t seem to have excellent physical abilities. “Is that okay?” Ji-soo asked carefully. “It’s possible! Ji Hyeon-woo agreed!” “Wang wang!” “Oh my, it seems that Kero has also agreed.” “Kirrk.” When Kero barked, Spotty cried out as if he didn’t want to lose either. “Oh, what a battle!” So the game began, not knowing which side had an advantage. Inside the office, which was slowly getting dark, Ga-jun smoked a cigarette and smiled. “You’re making me laugh.” It wasn’t even funny to play the role of a clown while hiding his power. “By the way, it’s a monster.” It used to be Kero at first, but now there’s one more. Although the name “Spotty” was tacky, the power it possessed couldn’t be ignored. “Perhaps, Ji Seon-woo is lucky.” Or maybe I am just unlucky? There’s no way to know that. But that didn’t mean I didn’t want to be down there. “Then the game begins!” As soon as the short, strong bell rang, the people dispersed in all directions. “Find it, find it quickly!” “Isn’t it advantageous for us since it’s 6 vs 3?” Deok-man said so and looked at the plate installed in the square. The number of marbles recovered there was to be recorded. “I don’t know. So, let’s find it quickly!” At the same time, the camera focused on the other team. Spotty was flying around at a blistering pace. He quickly found a golden marble hidden in a place slightly higher than a person’s height. Then Spotty bit it, swung his tail, and returned to Hyeon-woo. <1 piece> The number was recorded on the record board. In the beginning, everyone was preoccupied with finding marbles. However, the real fun of the game began after some marbles were collected. “Participants, it is now possible to steal marbles.” As soon as it was announced, Ji-hong flashed her eyes at teammate Lee-young. “Let’s go get them.” “From Hyeon-woo? But he’s alone, wouldn’t that be too much?” “Whoa, what’s with that devious smile?” “Hehehe.” Lee-young and Ji-hong immediately set out to find Hyeon-woo. However, it wasn’t Hyeon-woo they ran into. “Waang?” It was Kero. Unlike the impression Spotty gave, who kept to his original appearance, Kero was relatively less scary since his form was the only one people had widely seen. Besides, he looks just like a Pomeranian. It was more difficult to feel a sense of crisis. “It’s Kero. Kero!” “Wang wang!” When she called his name, Kero, who had been going the other way, turned and trotted over. “Ah ah, so cute!” “Wake up! Kero is our enemy!” “Enemy, yes, enemy! Can we take Kero hostage?” “Let’s exchange him for marbles!” “That’s a wonderful idea.” The two walked up to Kero with a sly smile. However, things quickly went south. “Paw!” “Wang!” “Oh my God, did you see him give me his paw? He’s so smart!” “To me, it seems like you were the one, who gave your hand not him.” When Kero with his lifted paw looked at her, Lee-young moved her hand and touched him. However, Lee-young, who had fallen for Kero, didn’t seem to hear the sound. Kero seemed to be saying, ‘Look at me, I’m cute right!’ She fell in love with the way he proudly puffed his chest while showing off his cuteness all over his body. In the end, Ji-hong, who had been resisting his charm, joined the admiring of the now wriggling Kero. It was then a black shadow appeared behind them. It was Spotty. Without a sound, he crawled on the floor and approached the bag Lee-young was wearing around her waist. Then, using his teeth and front paws, he cleverly unpacked the bag, put it in his mouth and flew away! It was around that time that Lee-young noticed her empty waist. “Ouch! My bag!” She waved her hand too late, but Spotty had already jumped high. “Come down, come down!” After struggling for a while, when they looked back later, Kero had already disappeared. “Hey, these scammers!” Lee-young swung her fists in anger. She lost all her marbles in a really absurd way. [Comments] - Isn’t Spotty so cute? - Kero is so cute! - Two cheaters! It’s perfect karma. Comments began to appear on the broadcast bulletin board. It was the same for other communities. [Comments] - You said it’s a scary monster~! He’s not scary at all! - How can they understand people so well? Miraculous. - I know right. Did you just see? Handing the stolen bag to Ji Hyeon-woo? - Ack, I just saw Spotty with the bag. It must have been specially made by the producers! - This time, Kero is biting people. Ji-soo gently gave him a marble as he looked at her cutely with her bright eyes. But it seems that she will give him hers too. - Heuk-heuk, I want to keep watching Kero and Spotty even after the broadcast is over! Please use tweet or Byeolsta! I want to see more photos and more videos! “Good, good.” PD’s eyes rubbed his hands with his eyes twinkling. “The ratings are going up!” “Rising!” The interviewer next to him also applauded with excitement. “There are few places where broadcasting services are provided abroad, so many people signed up to the site to watch it. Oh my God, this broadcast was a hit!” Because of that, everyone was in a celebratory atmosphere. “But it’s really cute.” “The monsters?” “Yeah, he’s a good talker, and he’s cute too. Will they go viral?” “Definitely.” It seemed that the monsters’ public approval were quickly improving ‘I’ll do it the way we originally aimed for it.’ People were originally reluctant to see the tamed monsters, but with this kind of broadcast, it would be different now. “It’s scary.” “What?” “That such a monster exists.” The PD waved his hand and watched the ratings continue to rise. ------ Credits: Translator: Hoshi Miya Editor/Proofreader: YaagRabRag HM: they didn’t tell if they won in this chap, since it's used for promotional uses, and Ga-jun is back(not completely back) I guess… Somehow I’m excited about his character personality. 47. The Seon-Hyeon Guild’s External Public Relations Support Department phones rang nonstop. “This is the Seon-Hyeon Guild External Public Relations Support Department. How can I help you? Yes yes. Since the Guild has yet to say anything, I don’t know either. I’m really sorry. We will release a statement once more information has become available.” As soon as one hangs up the phone, another call rings. “This is the Seon-Hyeon Guild External Public Relations Support Department. How can I help you? On a TV show? I can’t give an answer right now. I’m really sorry.” DDrrung. DDrrung. The phones rang nonstop everywhere. Followed by the voices of the guild members answering. Ever since the Guild leader and his Hyung made the news, countless calls had been pouring into the Seon-Hyeon Guild. Calls for broadcast appearance inquiries, advertisement inquiries, requests from other guilds, etc. The entire guild had turned into a separate call center. “Uwaaaa, no more. No more calls! My throat is dry!” The staff whined at the phones, which continued to ring like crazy. “Let’s hold on a little longer to get paid that bonus.” “I’m going to die before I get my bonus!” “Please hold on!” “No more!” The manager wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with an awkward expression. The Seon-Hyeon Guild already received a lot of phone calls for being the top guild in Korea, but this was the first time this had happened. Thanks to this, I have not been able to leave work for several days. I hoped that the craze would subside quickly, but will the end ever come? There was no end in sight. *** ‘Ah, I want to rest.’ Hyeon-woo looked ahead with a blank expression. In front of him sat a middle-aged man with a shiny bald head and a woman with tied up frizzy hair. “Hello!” The woman spoke first. “I’m Lee Hye-mi, the interviewer of 『Today’s Also a Challenge!』” “This is PD Park Jung-su. Thank you for choosing our program.” (EN: PD = Producer) I didn’t do it because I wanted to. Seon-woo was also displeased with the options left to them. “Hyung, why do we need to go on a show?” Deputy Guild Leader Chan-young explained why they needed to appear on the show and bowed his head. He avoided making eye contact with Seon-woo. “You’re right. There’s no need to appear on TV. I’d rather have a conversation like last time with all the press.” Meanwhile, Do-jin worked on convincing Hyeon-woo. “However, you need to do it.” At that, Seon-woo’s sharp gaze cut to Chan-young. “It’s fine for us to do this, but it’s not necessary.” Seon-woo reprimanded. But Hyeon-woo wasn’t an idiot either, and he knew how things were going now. Media soaked in soup were praising them, but not all of them were like that. Articles with impure intentions came up from time to time. 「Can a weak Awakened be able to handle monsters so well? Wouldn’t he more likely run in fear of the monsters? Without special sanctions, these monsters might run wild and inflict enormous damage. 」 How could I do nothing when hearing such slander? No matter how much I wanted to rest and wallow in laziness, handling this situation was more important. Hyeon-woo would do anything for his only younger brother, Seon-woo. “It’s okay. It will be fine. It’s a show I watch often.” 『Today’s Also a Challenge!』It was a program in which a person from a unique occupational group came out every week and teamed up with a few entertainers to play a game. “Watching a show and being part of it are two different things. It will be a lot harder.” Do-jin chimed in. “I can do it.” “It doesn’t matter if you are good at it or not.” Seon-woo contorted his face. “Hyung, I don’t want you to do anything you don’t want to do.” I had accumulated power and influence for times like these. So why couldn’t I make everything happen the way I wanted? Even knowing someone was pulling strings behind-the-scenes, I hadn’t been able to catch them. But even if I did, I couldn’t get rid of them all. Murder is a sin in modern society. In the desperate situation, tempers flared. Seon-woo became resentful of himself. “I’m also a fan of the show.” Of course, even as a fan, it wasn’t to the extent that Hyeon-woo wanted to appear on the show with them. Shows are best enjoyed lying down and watching it. Hyeon-woo agreed to go on despite their conversation with Seon-woo and Do-jin, and now the situation had come to this. The interviewer swallowed nervously, looking at the lizard and the small dog lying on the desks and to the right and left of Hyeon-woo. Even with the knowledge of there being two S-Class Awakened in the room, she was still terrified. “Then let the interview begin! First of all, Ji Hyeon-woo, are you a tamer?” “Yes, I’m a tamer.” Not true. However, if the seemingly weak and powerless Hyeon-woo could handle monsters without a reason why, people would be uneasy. With that in mind, he decided to call himself a tamer. “So that’s your special quality. No wonder. It’s not easy to deal with monsters no matter how long you’ve been in the Demon Realm.” The interviewer nodded as if she was convincing herself while she spoke. She didn’t ask any particularly irritating or intrusive questions. She had stayed true to the questionnaire she had given in advance. “You have complete control over the monsters, right?” After all the interviews were over, the PD asked again as if to confirm. “Of course.” As Hyeon-woo nodded, the interviewer carefully asked. “Then can I touch it?” “Sure. It’s fine with me present.” “Alright then, let’s see.” Naturally, the finger that was supposed to point towards Kero turned towards Spotty. Spotty narrowed his eyes but did not bite the fingers. There was a scary person sitting next to him. “Uwaaa, so smooth and cute!” “Really?” “Yes! I like reptiles, but this is the first time I’ve seen such a cute one. I’m really looking forward to the shooting day.” As the interviewer was friendly, and the PD was also relaxed, the atmosphere would also be friendly. So, it was decided that they would appear on the show again. *** “Wow, wow. What a delightful sight!” Ji-soo, the youngest girl on 『Today’s Also a Challenge!』 looked to one side with her eyes twinkling. Across from her stood an exquisite man, taller than average, having appearances that naturally attracted them. “That must be the Seon-Hyeon Guild Leader over there..” A young man in a solid suit stood waiting, his hair pulled back. Despite turning 21 this year, his serious atmosphere made him appear older than his age. “Who is that over there?” To that, Deok-man, the youngest of the comedians answered. “Is that an S-class Awakened over there?” “S-class Awakened?” S-class Awakened were not common. Even within the Awakened Powerhouse that was the Republic of Korea, they could still be counted with just hands. Were there really two people here? Her heart pounded wildly. “Hey, wake up. You know he’s not filming today.” “I know. I know, but it’s still amazing!” “Rather than that, worry about whether ordinary people and monsters who come together for the first time will be able to shoot properly.” “It’ll be fine. I heard that the PD and the interviewer met earlier.” “That’s true, but I’m still a little bit worried whether it’ll be okay.” Deok-man shook his head. “Is it because of the monster? I’ve talked with the Tamer too.” “The class is wrong. He can’t be a tamer!” “It will be fine.” “How are you not scared?” “Look at you being a coward!” Ji-soo patted Deok-man’s back and laughed. In the meantime, time passed, and it was time to shoot. Ji-soo, Deok-man, Ji-hong, the eldest woman Lee-young, intelligent Je-yeon, and the main MC, Park Soo-kwang. The opening started as soon as six people gathered. “Today’s Also–” “–A Challenge!” Everyone clapped and laughed. After a short conversation, it was time to introduce the day’s guest. “Did a special guest come today? I heard he’s the hottest person in Korea right now!” “I know, I know!” Ji-soo raised her hand and jumped. “Now, shall we call out who it is?” “Ji Hyeon-woo-ssi~!” At the same time as those words, a huge monster appeared from the sky. A monster with a black body with an aura of intimidation enough to take your breath away just by looking at it. The monster smiled arrogantly at the people who looked at him with frightened eyes. Just before the scream came out, the monster just rotated in mid-air and took the form of a small, winged lizard. “Krruck?” Then, he placed his short front paws on both cheeks and tilted his head slightly. The oppressive atmosphere disappeared in an instant, cuteness taking its place. “So cute!” Lee-young, the eldest, was the first to burst into laughter and say that. In the meantime, a black Pomeranian suddenly appeared, trotting in to lie in the center. The others started to laugh as well. “Let me introduce our guests for today! Welcome Spotty and Kero!” “What, how did he tame them so properly? The atmosphere is so different!” Je-yeon came in and made a fuss. “I know, right? Shall we ask their owner how he did it?” “Wang wang!” “Krruck!” “Introducing Ji Hyeon-woo, the incredible master of these two monsters!” Ji Hyeon-woo slowly walked in from where he had been waiting off camera. Having shot the documentary, he thought he would be fine. He was feeling more nervous than he had thought he would. ------ Credits: Translator: Hoshi Miya Editor/Proofreader: YaagRabRag YRR: Puff the Magic Dragon vibes. Ready to see the magic show. 46. “Kirrk!” Holding a rare steak with both of his hands, Spotty took a bite and widened his eyes. Oh my! What kind of meat is this? It melts in my mouth. Spotty rushed to shove the rest in his mouth lest someone stole it from him. “Kerk-Kerung.” It felt so good that he unknowingly let out a trill. He also tried to eat the white meat on the side of the plate. It wasn’t as good as the meat he had, but it was also quite tasty. “Kerruk.” Spotty ate so much food that his little stomach was left bulging. Even though it was enough to feed 5-6 people, it all went into Spotty’s stomach. “Krruk krruk.” After eating all the food, Spotty climbed into the bed and stretched his legs out. Then, he began to suck his front paws, coating it in saliva. Kero looked at him displeased, but he didn’t make a move. Since Hyeon-woo was still there. “He looks so cute, right?” Hyeon-woo gently rubbed at the bloated belly with his hand. “Phew.” Spotty flapped his short, spotted paws a few times before falling asleep. A few days passed like that. Life was heaven, and Spotty started gaining weight from the copious amounts of food he constantly consumed. Even though his body was small, he seemed to eat as much as he would in his large state. What would we have done if Seon-woo wasn’t rich? Just thinking about it made him shiver. After resting and eating well, Spotty more readily cooperated in gathering materials for research. When the researchers tried to remove the flesh excessively, Hyeon-woo stopped it. So, the lab was no longer greedy and acted much more appropriately. After that, all that was left was a conversation with Leon. They chose a cafe with a private environment on the lower floor of the hotel. Leon and Hyeon-woo were seated by the window, with Seon-woo and Do-jin seated nearby. And thus the conversation between them began. “The cafe is so big, but there are no customers.” “That’s because we’ve rented it out for a while. How are Kero and Spotty doing? I left the whole lower floor empty just in case since they are together.” Hyeon-woo decided not to elaborate on the damages the two monsters had caused. He had argued enough with Seon-woo about it already. Instead, he changed the subject. “So what do you want to know?” “Drink some tea first. The tea here is particularly good. The tea food was also quite sophisticated.” Certainly, as Leon said, the tea and the tea food that came with it were delicious. After enjoying it all, Leon finally began his questioning. “Isn’t Spotty from the Demon Realm?” “He is.” “Then, that means the Demon Realm and the Earth are connected.” “I don’t know to what extent, but it seems so.” Leon only tapped the teacup with his finger. Then he began again. “Have you ever met a demon in the Demon Realm?” “A demon?” “Yes, demon. Fairies have talked about demons several times, but we never actually came across one.” Hyeon-woo hesitated for a moment. Should I tell the truth or hide it? Leon, the Guild Leader of the Guardian Guild, was a righteous person who had taken the lead to protect the Earth from external threats. If so, wouldn’t he be able to solve this problem as well? In order to do that, some information sharing would be necessary. Coming to this conclusion, his hesitation disappeared. “I’ve met them before.” “What was it like?” The first demon that came to his mind was Alberg. But he was reluctant to talk about him for some reason. So, the next one he thought of was Tiamat, a 9th rank demon. She was a female demon with long purple hair. Tiamat was a little different from the other demons who broke under Hyeon-woo’s relentless attacks. She had watched him calmly without directly engaging. Instead, she utilized a lot of indirect methods. Hyeon-woo knew her as the one that handled poison. That was Tiamat. “It was a demon that handled poison.” At first, he didn’t have any poison resistance, and so suffered a lot. At the same time, he also became really good at escaping. After a successful get away, he once decided to catch her and chase after her. Those who played a major role at that time were Bike no. 1, Bike no. 2, and Bike no. 3. “Was it beautiful?” “Aren’t most demons like that?” “So it’s true then.” Hyeon-woo slowly unfolded the story. As he spoke, he added and subtracted details. Leon drank all the new information, nodding occasionally. “Thank you. I wanted to know more about the Demon Realm.” “Are you preparing for future dangers?” “Probably. To say that such a monster has crossed over from the Demon Realm means that other things might also come over. The fairy had said that creatures from the Demon Realm could never come to Earth, but maybe it was a lie.” Lies. Hyeon-woo remembered the fairy who he had beaten up in the Demon Realm. She used to shout out that she would never lie, but was it really all a lie? I didn’t really believe in the fairies, but I felt a little out of place with what all had happened. “Then, today’s teatime ends here. Are you planning to return to Korea after this?” “Probably.” “That’s a shame. There are so many things to see and eat in New York, but you only stay in hotels before going.” “It’s poor timing right now, but it’ll get better. I can enjoy it next time when I come to visit?” “Sure. Then, tell me when you leave. I will drive you to the airport.” Leon acted like a gentleman until the very end. Even so, some parts of the conversation kept bothering him. However, Leon is a person with a clear identity. ‘Acting nice to get whatever out of us seems to have been in vain.’ Hyeon-woo thought so at least. “Are you done?” As Leon got up from his seat, Do-jin and Seon-woo approached. “Yes, we finished.” “Then will we go back home now?” “Of course.” Now I will go back home and continue my lazy life as usual. With that in this mind, Hyeon-woo stretched out. Leon had not disclosed where the Koreans were staying to the public. He gathered and told only a few guild leaders from other strong American guilds. It was thought that it would only incite anxiety if it were reported to the citizens right away. So, only a small fraction of the information was released to the public. [Korea’s Seon-Hyeon Guild Leader’s Hyung, First Generation Awakened is taming monsters.] That kind of information. *** “Wow!” Leon also lent his private plane back for their return trip. Thanks to this, Hyeon-woo was able to return to Korea comfortably. Their first meeting hadn’t gone well, but Leon seemed like a better person than he had expected. He slept soundly and got off the plane with a smile, but the airport was strangely noisy. “What’s going on?” When Hyeon-woo asked with a puzzled expression, Seon-woo quietly handed his phone. There was a screen floating on it. 「Ji Hyeon-woo shows the spirit of Koreans in New York.」 What did I do in New York? Hyeon-woo looked down at the screen with his finger. And gradually his face began to wrinkle. The famed brothers of the Seon-Hyeon Guild went to New York and caught the monster wreaking havoc on the city and even taming it. “Isn’t that too much of an exaggeration?” It was Kero who actually caught Spotty, and Seon-woo stood by Hyeon-woo’s side without lifting a finger. Hyeon-woo didn’t do anything special either. To put it bluntly, he just ate and rolled around in the hotel. And Do-jin was beside him the entire time, yet that was omitted. “No, more importantly, how did the public find out?” “The Guardian Guild Leader must have released it.” Seon-woo gritted his teeth as if he didn’t want to even say Leon’s name. It didn’t solve the situation in the slightest, but it’s complicated in several ways. Hyeon-woo handed Seon-woo’s phone back and looked at the airport again. The crowd was churning as to welcome a celebrity. “For now, the airport officials have decided that we will exit through the back door.” That’s right. We wouldn’t be able to make it through the front door. “Let’s go, Hyung.” However, they thought too lightly of the reporters, who were like leeches. They infiltrated the back door and were arguing with the airport security guards and drawing the crowd’s attention to the commotion they caused. ‘Omg!’ Seon-woo made a tired expression on his face while Do-jin blocked the people from approaching them. “Hyung, let’s go home first.” “Seon-woo-ya?” “I’ll get you out of here.” “If that’s the case, let’s go together!” The moment Hyeon-woo said that and stepped forward, they were suddenly surrounded by darkness. When it brightened again, they were already outside the airport. “What about Seon-woo-ya!” “He’ll be fine.” “But there were so many people?” At that, Do-jin smiled a little. In front of his Hyung, Seon-woo acted meek and appeared weak. It was a different story when Hyeon-woo wasn’t there. So, as long as his Hyung was removed from the vicinity, he would be fine. “Ji Seon-woo is an S-Class Awakened, you know.” “Yes, but.” I was worried because I’m his Hyung. It was inevitable. “Look, he’s exiting the airport now.” Yeah? Seon-woo confidently strode out of the airport. There were no reporters behind him. “Have you been waiting for long, Hyung? Let’s go home now.” Seon-woo smiled and put Hyeon-woo in the car first. Then, before Do-jin could get on, he quickly closed the door. “Can you come separately?” Seon-woo flashed his vicious side. He truly acted differently when he was with his Hyung and when he wasn’t. “Why don’t you just act like your normal self when you are with your Hyung?” “I don’t want to.” Seon-woo spoke firmly, opened the door, and got in. Do-jin watched, full of disappointment, as the car drove away. ------ Credits: Translator: Hoshi Miya Editor/Proofreader: YaagRabRag HM: This is so sad!!TT how could you do that to Do-jin?
