CH 21
Without further ado, preparations for both the engagement and the wedding began. They wanted to celebrate in Korea and Germany, unwilling to give up either place that had shaped them. Since the legal registration had to be done in Germany, they decided the wedding would be held there, while the engagement party would take place in Korea.
They decided to return to Korea for a short break, just long enough to breathe, to reconnect with their dear ones. The engagement party was small, only close friends and family.
“It still feels unreal…Our relationship is… you know, slightly different from before, now that we’re married.”
Chae Yoo-jung sat on the couch, looking at the ceiling in wonder. Although he was relaxed, he felt a bit tense in his shoulders as he hugged the pillow close to his chest, rubbing it.
“Then again……”
Before Chae Yoo-jung could finish his sentence, Yoo Ji-han appeared in front of him without a sound and nuzzled him. He sweetly finished Chae Yoo-jung’s words with a smile, warming his heart and soul irresistibly.
It was as if he were healing him, placing him in the embrace of a thousand dandelions, melting away the worries of the past and future and assuring him that he only needed to remain calm and relaxed, no matter what challenges were thrown their way.
“You see…”
Yoo Ji-han chuckled softly, reaching out to brush his thumb along Chae Yoo-jung’s arm.
“There’s no need to overthink things. We’ve already been together for a long time. Just look at how many years have gone by.”
His smile deepened, easy and familiar.
‘My cute Yoo-jung-ah.’
“There’s no need to worry so much, we’ve lived together for years too. Hahaha. If we’ve made it this far, I think we’re doing pretty well. Don't you think, Yoo-jung-ah?”
The simple yet unspoken laughter molded into Chae Yoo-jung’s mind, his lips curling upward in response. Leaning closer to Yoo Ji-han, their lips met in a soft kiss, not for the sake of the mood, but to show that he accepted Yoo Ji-han’s words of advice.
“I wish my mind were as strong as yours, Hyung.”
Chae Yoo-jung swiftly averted his gaze, shyly, as he already knew what Yoo Ji-han would probably say after he had spoken without thinking much.
Yoo Ji-han looked at Chae Yoo-jung, one eyebrow raised.
‘Your mind is not weak, you’re just thinking too much.’
He chuckled.
“Why wouldn’t it be as strong as mine? After all, they say that couples who live together for more than two or three years start to share the same mindset over time.”
Yoo Ji-han flicked a finger against his own temple and smirked.
‘Being sly like that……’
“That’s right.”
Chae Yoo-jung beamed a smile. All the necessary preparations were taking place, like selection of venue, picking suits, deciding on the food and decorations, and some add-on as well. There was a lot to be done, so there’s no time to spare.
Most of the tasks—like checking out the venue, tasting the food, and arranging extras, were handled by their friends or Yoo Ji-han’s parents, since they were in Korea. Meanwhile, Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han made sure to have their suits prepared in Germany in time to travel to Korea and begin their own preparations.
“Hey, breathe. I know I’m taking your chest measurements, but I want to get this done so I can submit it online. We’re lucky they called us today, otherwise, we wouldn’t get the suit in time…”
Yoo Ji-han had the measuring tape wrapped around Chae Yoo-jung’s chest, and Chae Yoo-jung, blushing, felt like he had forgotten how to breathe. They had both been so busy with preparations that they hadn’t had much time together.
Chae Yoo-jung’s quickened heartbeat could be faintly heard through the tips of Yoo Ji-han’s fingers that had brushed against him. The sensation made him blush unconsciously and look away for a few seconds. Noticing this, Chae Yoo-jung spoke in a teasing tone:
“The prideful Ji-han-ah is getting flustered~”
After quickly noting the measurement in his mind, Yoo Ji-han tightened the tape around Chae Yoo-jung, causing him to chuckle softly.
“It’s too tight, Hyung.”
He said, still continuing to smile.
Soon, the day to return to Korea arrived, and Yoo Ji-han and Chae Yoo-jung were ready to move again. Yoo Ji-han’s parents had invited them to stay at their place, since it was close to their workplaces and could help them, making settling in much easier.
[P.S - Note from HM: I actually need to finish this quickly so it will be rushed from this point onwards. This fanfic was scheduled to be only 10 chapters. And now it’s over 20 chapters. And I think I spent over a year making this fanfic as well. (Sarcasm) It’s insane how my brain/heart decides that this couple needs more couple moments.]
Some of Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han’s college friends from Germany had decided to come to Korea to celebrate their engagement. Yoo Ji-han’s old college friends also came to visit, eager to hang out with the couple, and Chae Yoo-jung was introduced to them.
Before Yoo Ji-han could stop them, to his surprise, they started “inspecting” how good of a person he was, asking questions like, “Will you take care of him?” while mockingly begging on the floor as if they were his parents.
The corner of Yoo Ji-han’s lips twitched before he erupted in mock rage, playfully smacking the heads of those who were teasing him and laughing. Despite the chaos, everything was going great for both of them.
Chae Yoo-jung’s parents were notified of the engagement, while the secretary still had to keep an eye on him to make sure no trouble came from Chae Yoo-jung’s side. When they saw it wasn’t causing any scandal… they didn’t care one bit.
Yoo Kyung-seok, Chae Yoo-jung’s cousin, had received the formal invitation to the engagement. Sweeping away the tears that had been pooling in his eyes, he sighed in relief. This time, the invitation had come from Chae Yoo-jung himself, who had already told Yoo Ji-han that he would take the initiative, this time.
Soon, the day of the engagement party arrived, and everything went very smoothly. The reception was small, like, only about 30 to 40 people, but it was filled with Yoo Ji-han’s parents, a few family members, and friends, the people who had always been by their side.
It was a very simple ceremony, as Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han only exchanged rings and shared their vows, promising to always be happy together. Chae Yoo-jung expressed how much he wanted to marry Yoo Ji-han here, despite the fact that same-sex marriage is still not legally recognized in Korea. Yoo Ji-han, in turn, said that he was happy to be doing this in their native country, with their dear ones by their side. A few tears slipped from their eyes, but they wiped them away quickly, still smiling.
They even included a short presentation, like a vlog, about their college days in Germany, which brought tears to Yoo Ji-han’s parents. They also announced that the wedding would be held in Germany in about six months.
Yoo Kyung-seok, along with Kang Ji-hye, enjoyed talking with a few of Chae Yoo-jung’s German classmates about how cute he had been when they first met him as a child. Kang Ji-hye also shared a bit about Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han’s love story in the game ‘Zenoris’, where they had met, and how flirtatious Chae Yoo-jung had been, despite Yoo Ji-han initially rejecting him.
Their German classmates recounted how Yoo Ji-han had boldly kissed Chae Yoo-jung during language class, stories they had heard from their Asian friends and others. Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han grew flustered, exchanging shy glances and smiles. Meanwhile, Yoo Ji-han’s parents and some other friends sneaked in, catching every word of their conversation.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, spending their time talking, eating, and drinking.
Chae Yoo-jung and Yoo Ji-han stayed a bit apart from the crowd, leaning against the wall beside a table with drinks.
“I love you, Hyung.”
Chae Yoo-jung leaned in and whispered in Yoo Ji-han’s ear, making him blush. Yoo Ji-han glanced at him, then at the others happily chatting around them, before turning back to Chae Yoo-jung and kissing him gently. After the quick kiss, he smiled brightly.
“I love you too, Yoo-jung-ah.”
And thus, a happy ending… with Yoo Ji-han and Chae Yoo-jung looking forward to a beautiful life together after their marriage, exchanging vows to love each other eternally.
